This is a very rare classic James Cauty print of which there are only a few in existance.
A truely great Cauty image - and as with all of his prints there is an equally great story to go along with this one!
It came about as a response to the legal action in 2003 by the Royal Mail alleging a copyright infringement in connection to Caut'y's "postage stamps" artworks - especially his now iconic "Gas-mask Queen"!
It was made available for 1 day only on 1st April 2006.
Artist: James "Jimmy" Cauty
Title: Copyright Theft
Year produced: 2006
Technique: Glicee Archival Pigment Print onto 315 gsm archival art paper with light-fast inks.
Dimensions: 42 cm x 30.5 cm (16.5 in x 12 in)
Condition: Very good (Please see photos)
Edition: This is a proof aside from the main edition of 246. All those unsold on the one day it was available were destroyed in true Cauty style! This unique copy is stamped by 'Aquarium Gallery' (now L-13 Light Industrial Workshop) as a "reject" print and part-marked "Possibly an over-print" then signed by the publisher Steve Lowe. They were used as proof copies but sold along with the main edition on the day. A definite "one-off" with the stamp giving it an extra dimension and character!
It has been kept flat, never framed, and kept in an archival sleeve portfolio.
Shipping: Worldwide shipping. Will be sent through Royal Mail Special Delivery service in the UK, or Royal Mail International signed for airmail service for overseas buyers.
