English chronometer maker
The London-born Viner was born in 1788 in Bath England. After completing his apprenticeship he became a member of the Clockmakers-Company on 3rd May 1813 where he worked from 1826 to 1869 in London. He made pocket and marine chronometers as well as pocket watches with duplex escapement. In 1824 he became a Hoskins business parter for many years. Traded under the names Viner & Hoskins and Viner & Co.

Dials are undamaged. Elegant black Roman numerals. Gold coloured steel hands. Base guilloché pattern - well preserved - second sub-dial on the six.
Gold-plated full plate movement under the dust cover (18 kt) with exquisitely engraved balance wheel - diamond endstone. Signed Viner & Co. quarter repeater - chime count via pedal push button. The hours are struck according to the hour and quarter hours have a double chime on gongs. Strike is clear and fine - attractive.
