J D Huibers was educated by J J Vredenburg.
He continued his studies at the Koninklijke Academie voor schone kunsten in Antwerpen and the Rijksacademie van Beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam.
He exhibited at Arti, the exhibition of ‘Levende Meesters’ and other places. In 1876, he won the Royal Golden Incentive Medal at an Arti exhibition.
He became a teacher at the drawing school in Utrecht in 1868 and in Zwolle in 1872.
He was appointed Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau in 1895.
Some of his pupils were Leo van Gestel, Tjipke Visser.
Two of his works hang at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
Several of his works are in museums in Deventer (his place of birth).
The drawing itself is in good condition.
The paper is damaged in the upper left (a piece is missing, as pictured)
