He created these prints along with David Kandel circa 1538. A woodcut part of the work mentiones this date.

These woodcuts are taken from an edition of the 1580 "Augsburger Geschlechterbuch", that dealt with the nobility of the German city of Augsburg.
The two woodcuts representing two medieval knights, each with a different manufactured Armor

Weapon books flourished in the 15th and 16th century and came a cult object relating to the court life. This was the time of the medieval tournaments. These woodcuts come from the renowned work of Paul Hector Maier about the Knights of Augsburg.

A fine example of a renaissance print still with one feet in the middle ages with Knights and castles, feudal rulers and vassals.
