Analog recording with the Nikon F3 - when Caspari asked Hopper to make a hand gesture, he spontaneously stuck up his middle finger. The print is authorized by the photographer.
The Rotterdam-based photographer Caspari de Geus spent the last 30 years making portraits of hundreds of visual artists, actors, writers, choreographers and musicians (incl. Roman Polanski, Bono, Louis Armstrong, Jan Wolkers, Santana, Philip Glass, Miles Davis, Alberto Moravia, John Cage, Count Basie, Coetzee and Grace Jones).
Museum Boijmans bought his portraits of Copier, the Stedelijk Museum in Schiedam of Jan Schoonhoven and The Library of Congress in Washington of Gerry Mulligan. Caspari taught photography at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam.
