Well preserved fossil fish - Diplomystus birdi - 10 x 7,5 cm (specimen 5 cm)
Upper Cretaceous, Cenomanian, 100 million years - Haqil, Byblos, Lebanon

This species has 20 to 30 dorsal scuts at the posterior side bearing as many pectins as the animal is old. Oblong, somehow high body, which can be an indication of sexual dimorphism (difference in the morphology of sexual organs).
The genus Diplomystus is represented in Lebanon by only one species, Diplomystus birdi (Woodward, 1895), which is comparably small.
