Very large tooth of the extinct big tooth shark; Carcharocles megalodon. This tooth is 14.8 cm long and 10.9 cm wide. The tooth comes from the upper jaw. It was surfaced by a friend who is a diver, in the Atlantic Ocean about 60 km off the coast of South Carolina. From the middle of the root a piece has broken off as well as a piece of the enamel of the tooth. (see photo 2). The tooth comes from the Miocene and is between 15 and 20 million years old.
